What's new

Here you can read what changed in the platform: what was added, what works better and what we fixed.

September 2026

Updates week 39 (21 to 27 September)

New

  • Import your catalogue from your old shop

Moving over from the old platform no longer means retyping your catalogue. There's an import screen in your admin where you upload the export from your old shop, and your categories, products, images and digital product files are brought across. Images and files are stored on the new platform, and product web addresses stay the same so existing links keep working. While the import runs you can follow the progress, and afterwards you see per row what didn't go through. Running the import again updates existing products instead of creating duplicates. Since there's no undo yet, it's wise to try a first import on a copy of your shop.

Improved

  • Weight is now required for physical products

You now have to fill in a weight for every physical product, even if you haven't connected a shipping service yet. Digital products and their variants can still be saved without one.

  • Weight-based shipping rates, shown right in the cart

You enter one amount per package type and country, and the cart picks the smallest package the order's weight fits in. Shoppers see the shipping cost before checkout and can switch country there; if a product has no weight, you get a clear warning instead of a guessed amount.

  • Images now load at the right size for each screen

Every image gets several sizes, so a visitor's browser only downloads the one that fits their screen. Images you uploaded earlier are updated in the background as well.

  • Updated default texts for your legal pages

New shops now come with refreshed texts for terms and conditions, privacy policy, complaints procedure, right of withdrawal and cookie policy. Wherever your own details belong, you'll find a visible placeholder to fill in before you publish the page. Pages in existing shops stay untouched.

  • Clearer text and a steadier cookie banner

Text and buttons that use your main colour, like category labels and the accept button in the cookie banner, now have enough contrast even if you picked a light shade. The cookie banner no longer pushes the page around, and the close button on the welcome popup is bigger so it's easier to tap on a phone.

  • Your shop loads faster on mobile

Your shop's style files are now loaded in one go instead of in separate pieces, so pages show up sooner. The look of your shop stays exactly the same.

  • Pages in your shop load faster

Each page now only loads the code it actually needs, instead of everything at once. Error reports from your shop also come in more clearly now, which makes problems easier to track down.

  • Large image at the top of your shop loads sooner

The big banner image at the top of your pages is now loaded first, on mobile as well. Product photos further down the page wait until a visitor scrolls, so the first thing people see appears earlier.

  • Images are now served through a CDN

Your shop's images have moved to external storage and are delivered through a CDN, so visitors load them from a server closer to them. All existing images came along and keep working as before.

  • Images now load in a smaller format

Images in your shop are now also stored and served in a modern file format, so they are a lot smaller without any visible difference in quality. Your logo is loaded at the size it is actually shown, instead of a much larger version.

  • Images in your texts now adapt to the screen

When you place an image in a text through the editor, your shop now serves it in a size that suits the visitor's screen. A phone gets a smaller version than a wide monitor, so the page loads quicker. This works for images you uploaded yourself; images you linked from another website stay exactly as they were. Your existing texts have already been updated, so there is nothing you need to resave. The text you wrote stays untouched.

Fixed

  • Automatic accounting export now follows your plan

If you switch to a plan without an accounting connection, paid orders are no longer sent through automatically. Your connection settings stay in place, so everything picks up again when you upgrade.

  • Empty reviews heading no longer shows when the widget fails

When the WebwinkelKeur review widget doesn't load, your shop no longer shows a "Reviews" heading with nothing underneath. The block on the home page disappears too, along with the white space around it. The preview in your admin still shows its placeholder.

  • Editing the homepage works again after a domain change

When a shop switched to a new domain name, changes to the homepage failed with an error. You can edit and save your homepage content again.

  • Pages no longer render themselves twice

When a page opened, the browser sometimes drew the content all over again, which made loading feel slower. That no longer happens on the homepage, product, category and content pages.

Updates week 38 (14 to 20 September)

New

  • See each week what changed on the platform

Your admin now has a menu item that takes you to the changelog. It shows week by week what has changed on the platform, written in plain language and sorted by kind of change. A marker next to the menu item tells you there are updates you have not seen yet. Changes that only work on Business are labelled as such. The page is open to everyone and the entries are written in the languages the platform supports, so you read them in your own.

  • Your shop is now ready for search engines

Every shop automatically gets its own sitemap, robots.txt and product data that Google and other search engines can read, with nothing for you to set up. You can add your Google or Bing verification code and use the product feed to list your items in Google Shopping.

  • Plan changes from the portal apply right away

When your plan changes in the portal, the new limits and features take effect in your shop straight away. Moving back to a single-language plan leaves only your default language; products and categories above the new limit stay in place, but you can only add new ones once you're back under the limit.

Improved

  • Changelog appears as soon as a change goes live

New entries now show up shortly after a change goes live, instead of waiting until the following week. The changelog and the admin screen show one month per page, still grouped by week, and you browse back month by month.

Fixed

  • Products without variants no longer show a variant name

A product without variants used to display "Selected variant" with the name "Standard" above the price. That label is gone now, so shoppers just see the price. This applies to both themes.

  • Photos no longer appear sideways

Photos you upload now show the right way up instead of rotated a quarter turn. This applies on both desktop and mobile.

  • Older invoices keep the company details of that time

If you have moved or changed your VAT number, invoices you sent earlier keep showing the address and number that applied back then. They no longer get overwritten with your current details.

  • Your sitemap and robots.txt are reachable again

After the last update, search engines got an error when they asked for your sitemap and robots.txt, so the rules about which pages they may crawl were being ignored. Both files are now rebuilt for every active shop and respond normally again.

  • Search engines now only see languages your page actually has

Products and pages without a translation were still offered as a separate language version, showing text in your own language. A language reference now points only to versions that really are translated, both on the page and in your sitemap.

  • Customers land on the right order after signing in

When a customer follows an order link from an email and has to sign in first, they now end up on that order instead of on their account dashboard. Links pointing outside your shop are ignored.

  • Your legal pages stay as you wrote them after an update

Edits to pages like your terms and privacy policy were sometimes reverted to the default text during an update. Your own version now stays in place.

  • Attributes show up on the product page again

Attributes you add to a product or one of its variants now appear on the product page. Your customers can see the specifications with the product again.

  • Empty subcategory notice no longer shows to shoppers

Category pages without subcategories showed customers a panel saying there were none yet. That panel is gone now, and categories that do have subcategories still show them as before.

  • Automatic search engine description now reads properly

When you don't write your own description, your shop creates one for you. That sentence has been rewritten so your shop name and category names no longer look odd in it.

  • Shop name now reads properly in emails

If your shop name starts with a word like "At" or "The", emails could end up with a doubled-up phrase such as "your order at At Sarah's". The order confirmation, back in stock notice and invitation emails have been reworded so your shop name reads naturally.

Updates week 37 (7 to 13 September)

New

  • Error pages now match your shop's look

When a visitor lands on a link that no longer works, they now see a page with your logo, menu and search bar, and a way back to the homepage. It works in both themes and in every language your shop uses.

Improved

  • Shop pages now arrive fully rendered

Your pages are delivered complete on the first request, including the title and description that search engines read. Crawlers that don't run JavaScript now see your products and text as well.

  • Confirmation emails no longer slow down checkout

Emails such as the order confirmation and your own order notification are now sent in the background. If the mail server is slow, your customer no longer waits on the thank-you page or runs into an error right after paying.

Fixed

  • Expired session now sends you to the right login page

If your session has expired and you open a link such as an invoice download, you end up on your own login page instead of the one your webshop customers use. Once you're logged in you can carry on.

  • Your company name no longer reverts to the default

If you had changed your shop's company name, it could switch back to the default name later on. The name you enter now stays put.

  • VAT and shipping now update when the country changes

When a customer picks a different country during checkout, the shipping costs and the VAT are recalculated right away. If no shipping is available for that country, the page says so instead of showing an amount that leaves shipping out.
